Tags & Awards

Bethan awarded me the liebster award, and Elly tagged me for the fashion tag. Thank you both! Now, dear reader, click both of these links and leave everybody a lovely comment, won't you? Yas, thank you. You're my favorite.

First off with the liebster award;

Rules:
1. Thank the blogger(s) that nominated you.
2. Nominate a few of your favourite bloggers and let them know on their blog.
3. The Liebster Award button must be in the post.
4. You must answer a list of 11 questions that the blogger who nominated you has written.
5. At the end of the post, you must write 11 questions for the bloggers you have nominated.

1. Describe your perfect day. What would you do, what would happen, who would you spend it with?
Uhm, my perfect day would be set in summer. The heat would be drowning me, but then I got a call from my agent that my book is on the New York Times Bestseller List. Then I'd die, but I'd die happy. XD

2. If you could choose one fictional character to spend a day with, who would it be and why?
It'd be Jace, because I'm still eagerly awaiting to read City of Heavenly Fire. And then I'd get to hang out with everybody CC hasn't killed, too. :P

3. What is your happiest memory? You can name more than one.
I'll be honest: I kept on writing different ones and then deleting them. I'm typically always fairly happy, and there are moments when I'm happier than others, but those are mine. Thanks for the question, though, it was lovely.

4. If you could be one fictional character for a day, who would it be and why?
ooooh, good question! Uhm... I just finished reading Legend and Prodigy by Marie Lu, and I'd say June Iparis since I'm still in that world.

5. What is your most recent dream?
Okay, so it was Easter day, and for some reason everybody in my youth group was sword fighting. My friend and I were fighting against another one of our friends, and he kept winning so we got really mad at him. It was funny. XD

6. In front of the camera or behind it?
Both? I'm not good at photography or acting, but I think I could enjoy both if I tried.

7. What is your greatest achievement?
In early 2013-ish I finished my first novel. Then I finished a sequel to it later. That still means a lot to me, considering I haven't been able to write anything else since.
Also my pointe shoes because where I dance getting your pointe shoes is a big thing, and it's what I practiced for since.... forever. ;) So I was like ''YAS BABY'' when I got them.

8. If you could travel anywhere in the world and spend a week there, where would you go and why?
I would just tour Europe. okay, not quite a real answer, but it's what I'd do!

9. Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
I'm an introvert but I think I have a good healthy dose of extrovert-edness in me. ;)

10. What is your dream job?
A well-known author.

11. Would you rather go to Hogwarts or be the Doctor's companion? (hehehe....)
Hogwarts! The Harry Potter series are my happy thing.

My questions:
1. What is your favorite book?
2. Do you like to draw?
3. Biggest achievement?
4. Favorite Doctor?
5. Cats or dogs?
6. Converse or Vans?
7. Favorite color?
8. Favorite book release of this year?
9. What are three books you want to read?
10. What's a language you want to learn?
11. Chocolate or vanilla?

Now I award:

now on to Ella's tag:

1. What's your favorite Hairstyle?

A big messy bun on the top of my head. XD

2. What's your favorite style of top?

Comfy? haha

3. Do you prefer Shorts or a Skirt?

Shorts! I typically only wear skirts/dresses for church.

4. What's your favorite style of dress?

The ones with a fitted top and then a flowy skirt. Sometime during this summer i want to buy a maxi dress.

5.  Winter Outfits or Summer Outfits?

Winter! Because I can throw on skinny jeans and a sweater and still look presentable.

6. Necklaces or Bracelets?

Rings? Okay no. Necklaces because I don't like how bracelets feel. :P

7. Favorite Kind of shoe?

Any sort of ballet flats. I currently have a pair of nude flats and grey flats that I keep on switching out because I love them so much.

Anybody who wants to do this can!

Thanks again Bethan and Elly for awarding me!

post scriptum: if you got this far thank you. XD It's a long post with all sorts of different fonts and Im not going to go over it and edit. So there.

Dear May

dear May,
however much I hate you you've been good to me.
Thanks for that, you're a dear.
But now you're waning and June is starting to peek over the horizon; and I must admit, I'm a bit more excited for her.
June brings a promise of something good, of lazy days and lavender hair.
I love you, I swear. Just not as much as June.
June brings a promise of sand between my toes and wild, salty beach hair.
You're nice and everything, you're just not June.
June promises me what you can't give me:
sleeping in and breakfast at 2.
I love you, May, and I'll miss you. But my future's too bright to stay with you for much longer.

~~~
Count that as you end-and-start of month post, won't you lovelies? Thanks. :)
Now, let's get down to business to defeat the huns. In June, I'll be leaving y'all for a short time. I'll be back though, I promise. But does anybody want to guest post while I'm gone? Email me at madeline.blueberry@gmail.com if you're interested.
Thanks! <3
A Story Inside Me
There's a story forming inside me, waiting to be told. It begs to be released, but every time I try to write it I only choke it. This story whirls inside me, bouncing from my arm to my knee to my neck and back again. Every breath I take lets a little of it go, to the point where I fear to breathe should I lose anymore.
My soul is a lock and my fingertips the key, but they never find each other. Lost is one and found is the other. One day they'll find each other, I live in distress of that day. Because when they are both found and I am unlocked and my story is gone is when I will be gone, also.
~~~

I hope this adequately describes how I feel about writing. Like every story I let go is made from a piece of my soul. I'm scared that when my soul is gone so my stories will be.
It's an irrational fear, I know. But at least I can kill spiders. ^.^ ;)

Sky Scrapers

Sky scrapers. Say that word and let it roll off your tongue, filling the air around you.
I know it's just a tall building, but when you give it a name like that, it turns into something else entirely. Imagine walking around that building, when suddenly, something falls.
''What was that?'' you ask your friend.
''Just a piece of the sky,'' she replies casually, ''they're renovating this old thing again.''

***

Somebody unfollowed me. :( I mean, people have unfollowed me before, and I've never cared too too much, but I'm so close to 100 right now, ya know? It stings a little more this time.

anyway, this:
fishingboatproceeds is John Green's tumblr.

Story Within A Picture

Hey you lovely cheerio candy kitty cats! {Not working? Not working. No.} Today I'm taking part of Celia's story within a picture post. Go check it out if you want to do it!

It took all he had not to throw his guitar against his wall. He sunk against his bed post, hands restlessly going through his hair. All the rage and emotion from the last few days poured out of him, his soul tearing apart until he was gasping for breath. He wasn't sobbing, but he wasn't far from it, either.
You saw the guitar, and you saw the smile, but you didn't see past that. You didn't see the words that had been shout in anger, the type you regret long after they are born, or the punches, or the bruises. You didn't see anything past the show, and you didn't want to, either.
And a show he'd give you, alright. Snatching a nearby notepad and pencil worn down to practically a stub, he began to write, pouring the turmoil inside into the paper. All of his heart leaked out until there was nothing left, except the occasional drip drop. It was a free show.

Happiness

I believe that doing the right thing will not always make you happy. It's HARD doing the right thing sometimes, but that doesn't change the fact that it's the right thing to do. {yes, I am jumping right into this post. Hello. This is the post} I do believe, however, that while doing the right thing might not make you happy in the now-term, it will make you happy later when it counts.
I also believe doing the wrong thing might make you happy {now}. But that happiness won't last, and soon guilt {hopefully} will set in and make you miserable.
Let's admit it, if you are feeling guilty you are probably doing the wrong thing. There are very few times when the experience of guilt doesn't mean you are doing the wrong thing.
The phrase ''do what makes you happy'' has so many meanings.  You have to remember though that sometimes you can't, or rather shouldn't, do what makes you happy. It sucks, yeah. Sometimes happiness has to be sacrificed so you can have it later on.
This is how I like to view it: You can do something bad  sin, that makes you happy for a short time right now, but be miserable later , or you could do the right thing now and be miserable for a short time and be happy for a long time later. Which one would you choose?
Now, I'm not saying all happiness means you're doing something bad, or you have to suffer before you can be happy. No! Sometimes doing the right thing, the good thing, is easy and comes naturally. It won't always be like that, but when it is, be joyful!

So those are my views on happiness right now. They could change tomorrow, they could change in a year. I don't know, but I'm telling you about them now.
What do you think? Feel free to leave an honest opinion in the comment section, ALL COMMENTS AND VIEWS WILL BE RESPECTED {disagree nicely}.

post script: I know this is a change from my usually happy/story posts. I want this to be a blog where you can read those happy posts AND the deep, meaningful ones that hopefully makes you think about your own opinion.

Of Grace And Elegance

She whisked by him, in the arms of her partner, and again he knew.
She was otherworldly--such grace and elegance another creature could not behold. Her laugh made the stars shine brighter and her eyes smiled even when she was frowning. With every step she took, dancing and laughing, he fell a little more.
When those deep green eyes of her's glanced at her partner all he could feel was his heart burning. ''Excuse me, excuse me,'' he murmured, stepping past the whirling couples and stopping in front of her.
''May I have this dance?''

a big city with big dreams. everybody inside that city wanted the same things he did, and only a few of them would see them out.
twenty dollars in his pocket and his only possessions in his backpack.
his hair was wet from the recent downpour and his eyes glinted as he took in the city.
he wouldn't stop until he was on top of the world.

Review on The One by Kiera Cass

Hey all y'all! I don't usually review books but I'm going to today. Here are my thoughts on The One by Kiera Cass.

The Selection changed America Singer's life in ways she never could have imagined. Since she entered the competition to become the next princess of IllĂ©a, America has struggled with her feelings for her first love, Aspen—and her growing attraction to Prince Maxon. Now she's made her choice . . . and she's prepared to fight for the future she wants.
Find out who America will choose in The One, the enchanting, beautifully romantic third book in the Selection series!

{^^from Amazon}

First off, the cover. OH MAH WORD. *dies into little fangirl bits* It's even better when you take the dust jacket off, if you can believe that. All white and cream and the inside is the loveliest shade of gray.
I'm going to be honest, the cover makes half the book for me.
Second, I was a little annoyed with the love triangle. I know Ms. Cass started the book off with the love triangle so she had to keep it until the end, but it became almost boring and bland. It was obvious that America and Aspen's relationship was fading, even from the second book.

**SPOILERS**  I was honestly quite shocked when Ms. Cass started killing characters off. The whole series gave a light-hearted feel, so it really was a plot twist. However, I do think the deaths added to the book.
And, the Northern Rebels. Oh my. It really was a surprise, but again, it was good. **END OF SPOILERS*

I feel like there was still some things to untangle at the end. the whole ''Southern Rebels'' thing was never really fixed.
As for the writing, there were places where I stopped and thought : this writing is stunning. asdfghjkl
Not a whole lot of big writing moments, but often little subtle ones that really added all around.

All in all I enjoyed this book, I thought it was fairly obvious who America was going to pick, and I give it four stars.

Have your read The One? What did you think about it?

I've got a Dream

{^^ This post isn't really about this song but it fits along nicely; so turn the music up and drink in the words}

I've got a dream. I've always known that I want to take a gap year between high school and college since the moment I knew what it was.
A gap year is a year you take off of school in-between your graduation of high school and start of college. Basically it's' to have a little fun, to make sure what you want to major in is really want you want to do, and ''discover yourself''. Or something along those lines.
I want to travel during my gap year, preferably to Florence, France, and maybe Germany if I'm in the mood. But most of all : Russia.
I want to go to Russia. I want to learn to speak Russian; I want to wake up and write a novel as I drink my coffee and stare out my window at Russia.

Maybe I'll never go to Russia. And maybe that's okay. But while I have this dream, I'm going to entertain it a little longer.

May

In May:

  • I want to finish the Vampire Academy series. Yeah, I'm reading those. Yeah, they're pretty good. No, they're not like Twilight {besides the whole vampire thing}. VA is about friendship, adventure, duty, with a little bit of love. It's different.
  • I want to write more. Writing is not a thing I've been doing a whole lot of and I'd like to change that.
  • I want to discover more of myself. And cute little pinterest quotes. Those are good too.

May is the bridge from spring to summer, and it's one I'm happy to cross.
What do you guys want to do in May?

p.s. Did you like this? I don't normally do beginning-of-the-month posts like this, but if you like it I can do one for June. :)

Summer

favorite season {please stick around a little longer!}
Summer smells different.
Summer feels different.
Summer is different.
Some say that Spring is when everything is born;
but I come alive in summer.
